Which app reads the school emails and the class WhatsApp group for parents?
Two of the six read the class group on their own, Nuet and Mamigo, and both read the inbox too. The rest read email only, want you to forward things, or read nothing and hand you a calendar to type into.
What each app reads, and what you get back
We make Mamigo. Everything below comes from each vendor's own site, checked on 13 September 2026; "not stated" means the site does not say.

SchoolSorted appears on many lists of school email apps; its site did not load on the day we checked, so it is not here. Cozi's App Store listing shows several Gold prices, from $29.99 to $39 a year, depending on the offer.
Is there an app that reads school emails and puts dates on a calendar?
Yes. Nuet, Fambot and Mamigo connect to your inbox and do it on their own. Sense does it with emails you forward.
The difference that matters day to day is whether the app watches the inbox or waits for you. Nuet connects to Gmail, Outlook, iCloud or Yahoo once and picks events up from then on. Fambot does the same with Gmail and sends a text each evening with tomorrow's plan. Mamigo connects to Gmail with a read-only permission, reads the school apps your kids' schools use, and puts what it finds into one daily brief, with the dates written to your calendar. Sense has no inbox connection; you forward each email to an address it gives you, and it builds the week from what arrives. That is more work per email, and it also means Sense only ever sees what you chose to send.
Peppa says it extracts deadlines from school emails. Its site did not say which inbox providers it connects to when we looked.
Can an app read the class WhatsApp group?
Two do it automatically: Nuet and Mamigo. Both join the groups you choose as a linked device on your own WhatsApp account, the same mechanism as WhatsApp Web.
Nobody else in the group is added, nothing changes on their side, and the app sees only what you already see. Nuet calls this "monitors selected group chats automatically". Mamigo does the same and adds one restriction: the linked device can only read. It has no way to send, reply or react, in a group or in email, so there is no button that could post on your behalf by mistake.
Sense reads WhatsApp messages too, but only the ones you forward to it. Fambot, Peppa and Cozi do not read WhatsApp at all.
When to choose Nuet, Sense or Cozi instead
Each of these is the better pick for a particular family.
Nuet
Everyone in the house has an iPhone, your school mail lands in Outlook or Yahoo rather than Gmail, and you want something you can install today. Nuet has been shipping for a while, connects to more email providers than anyone else in the table, and reads WhatsApp groups. What it does not do: a daily brief, Android, your kid's photos.
Sense
You would rather forward things than connect an inbox, or you want a free plan right now. Sense takes the widest range of input (photos of flyers, PDFs, calendar feeds, WhatsApp forwards) and works on every platform. The cost is that every email and every message needs a tap from you before Sense sees it.
Cozi
You want a shared family calendar and lists that everyone types into, with nothing connected to your accounts, for free. Cozi does not read anything. If that is a feature to you, it is the right choice. Mamigo could feed a Cozi calendar; it is not a replacement for one. Cozi against FamilyWall and Skylight is its own page: Cozi vs FamilyWall vs Skylight.
What Mamigo does that the others don't
It reads the class chats, the school emails and the school apps together, and it keeps more than dates.
Every app in the table produces events. Mamigo also keeps the facts that live inside the messages: the teacher's name, the allergy note, which day is swimming, where the concert is. You can read everything it has learned in one place and export it. When the class photo dump lands, it saves only the photos with your kid in them to your phone. And the whole thing arrives as one short brief in the morning, across every kid, group and inbox, instead of a feed of notifications.
The part we care about most is what it cannot do. The Gmail permission is read-only. WhatsApp sees Mamigo as a linked device that only reads. No message is stored raw: Mamigo keeps what a message means (the task, the date, the fact) and lets the message itself go. Kids' faces are matched on our own servers and never sent to an AI provider. The details are on the privacy page, sections 3 and 4.
Mamigo is on a waitlist and opens in batches.
How we checked
One person read each vendor's home page, pricing page and FAQ, and the App Store listing where the site left a gap, on 13 September 2026. Where a vendor publishes its own comparison (Nuet has one against Sense) we used it only for the vendor's own claims, not the ones it makes about the other app. The table covers apps sold to parents in the US; two European apps that came up in our research were left out. If we got something wrong about your product, write to hello@mamigo.family and we will fix it and update the date at the top.
Questions parents ask
Is there an app that reads school emails and puts dates on a calendar?
Yes. Nuet, Fambot and Mamigo connect to the inbox and pull the dates out on their own; Sense does the same with emails you forward to it. Nuet writes to Google, Outlook or iCloud calendars, Fambot to Google Calendar, Sense to Google, Apple and Outlook, and Mamigo to Google Calendar or to any calendar that takes a feed. Cozi does not read email; you type events in.
Is there a free app that reads school emails?
Fambot is free while it is in beta. Sense has a free plan that includes email processing, with a paid plan at $6.99 a month. Nuet has a seven day trial and then costs $6.99 a month. Cozi is free but does not read email. Mamigo is a subscription with a 14 day free trial; it is on a waitlist at the moment.
Which school email app works on Android?
Sense, Fambot, Cozi and Mamigo run on Android and iPhone, and each has a web version. Nuet is iPhone and iPad only as of September 2026; its site says Android is coming. Peppa had not listed its platforms when we checked.
Do any of these read the class WhatsApp group without me forwarding messages?
Two do: Nuet and Mamigo join the groups you pick as a linked device on your own WhatsApp account and read them on their own. Sense reads WhatsApp messages you forward to it by hand. Fambot, Peppa and Cozi do not read WhatsApp.
